Wellington’s Regional Hospital 48 node fire alarm system seamlessly upgraded within a single day ensuring no disruption of service
In June 2020, Fire Security Service’s Wellington team successfully upgraded Wellington Regional Hospital from their ageing fire alarm system to the latest state-of-the art fire detection and evacuation system.
It would be fair to say that the upgrade was unprecedented in scale, complexity and risk - with all of the software effectively having to be rewritten from scratch to include thousands of individually-addressed devices, while ensuring the existing system was replicated for ease of operation and continuity for hospital staff.
To mitigate any risk, the system was built, simulated and tested off-site over a four month period to ensure it was fit for purpose and functioning with 100% accuracy before the on-site installation.
Once ready the system was installed and commissioned seamlessly across 48 locations at the Wellington Regional Hospital by a team of 12 within a single day - without disruption to staff, stakeholders and hospital operating theatres.
The success of the project is a testament to the meticulous attention to detail in the planning stages and the superior technical ability of the hand-picked installation team on the day of implementation.
We would like to thank Capital & Coast DHB for choosing to partner with FSS and we look forward to working together on the next project!
